Which Bikini Tops will work best for your Bust Type

This summer, the right bikini top can make or break your beach vibes. An ill-fitted suit can leave you clutching at the straps, afraid to move around too much lest you accidentally flash a bystander.

Alternatively, it could be so tight and uncomfortable; you’re itching to change out of it — not the best way to savour the season. We’ve decided to put together a quick guide to finding the best bikini top for your bust type.

Check out our recommendations below.

Finding Your Fit

Generally speaking, bikini top sizing follows bra sizing. However, if you aren’t a hundred per cent certain about your size after taking all your measurements, you can always ask a professional or an in-store assistant to help you out. We generally discourage guessing or eyeballing the fit.
Now, to determine your bikini size, you’ll need to take accurate measurements of your:

● Chest (bust and underbust)
● Waist
● Hip circumference

You’ll then need to calculate your bra size. You can do this by measuring your bust and underbust circumferences. Your underbust circumference will determine the band size of your bra, rounded up to the next even number (i.e., if your underbust measures 30.6 inches, you’d fit in a 32-inch band size).

The difference between your underbust and bust measurement is your bikini top’s cup size. Once you’ve got that all figured out, here are the best styles we can recommend for your bust.

A-Cups

We’ve found that women with smaller chests look bomb in cuts that are cheeky, daring, and – dare we say it? – a little bit naughty.

Show off beautifully clean lines and great body symmetry with these bikini top styles:

Triangle-Bikini-Tops: The minimal fabric and chest coverage won’t be a problem. You’ll look sleek and svelte in this style if you choose solid colours, but small, fine prints should work just fine. Spice it up a little by choosing a top with small details, like frilly edges or decorative knots.

Bandeau-Bikini-Tops: Because the style is so simple, you can get away with wearing it in bright colours and bold prints! And because your chest is smaller, lack of straps and/or underwire won’t be an issue.

Push-up-Bikini-Tops: If you want to add some curves and softness to your silhouette, a well-fitted push-up bikini top is your best friend.

B-Cups

Halter-Bikini-Tops: One of the best cuts for showing off elegant necks, shoulders, and collarbones. Women with B-cup busts won’t require too much support, so the chances of the halter top strap straining your neck are minimal to non-existent. Try choosing a set with a geometric pattern or pieces in warm earth tones.

Sporty Bikini-Tops: Smallish chests look bomb in sports-bra-style cuts. You can balance it out with low-rise booty shorts or a cheeky ruched bikini bottom.

C-Cups

Sporty Bikini-Tops: Yes, women with C-cups can also rock a sports-bra-esque fit! There’s just something so fetching about a bustier silhouette in athletic apparel. Do your back a favour, though, and make sure to look for one with supportive underwire.

Classic Bikini-Tops/Bustier-Bikini-Tops: If you’re a C-cup, you’ve got enough to flaunt—trust us! So play it up a bit by keeping it classy in a classic bustier bikini cut. There’s a reason this characteristic design has withstood the test of time. Get a set with statement details like knots, ties, or strategic ruching for some added oomph!

D CUPS (and up)

Bustier-Bikini-Top & Sporty Bikini-Tops with Back Cross Straps: You can easily rock these cuts with a larger chest, but the extra weight could cause thin straps to start digging into flesh. Whichever style you choose – classic bustier or stylishly sporty – make sure the straps cross at the back (not the neck!) to keep you comfortably supported.

Underwired Crop Bikini Tops: For our busty babes, it’s all about support! Plenty of brands right now offer bikini taps with adjustable bands and underwire for a comfy, secure fit. A crop bikini top can emphasise bigger chests in a flattering way. Plus, there’s plenty of fabric to experiment with artistic nature-themed patterns.

We hope this short guide helps you! But remember, these suggestions are exactly that; suggestions.

Don’t take them as gospel and completely stay away from different cuts because they’re not “recommended” for your bust size.

We still highly encourage testing the waters until you find a bikini top design that checks all your boxes. After all, your style is still the best style.
